HARTFORD, Conn. — October 6, 2026 — The Connecticut Green Bank today announced the opening of its 18th Green Liberty Note offering, providing residents and investors nationwide with an opportunity to earn a return while supporting clean energy investments in Connecticut. The offering will finance energy efficiency improvements through Eversource’s Small Business Energy Advantage (SBEA) program, helping small businesses reduce energy costs and improve performance.
The launch follows the successful close of the Green Bank's 17th Green Liberty Note offering and continues the momentum of a program that has attracted more than $5 million in investments since its launch in 2021. The Green Liberty Note program enables individuals to invest directly in Connecticut’s green economy with a minimum investment of $100 through a partnership with Honeycomb Credit.
The 18th Green Liberty Note offering also features an increased interest rate, providing an attractive opportunity for both new and returning investors. Current noteholders who invested in the 14th, 15th, 16th, or 17th Green Liberty Note offering are eligible for an interest-rate boost when participating in the current offering.
Looking Ahead: Branford Electric School Bus Investment Opportunity
In addition to the current offering, the Connecticut Green Bank announced plans for a unique project- specific Green Liberty Note later this fall that will support the electrification of the Town of Branford’s entire school bus fleet, including bidirectional charging infrastructure – the first of its kind in New England. The project was developed in partnership with the Town of Branford, Branford Public Schools, and school transportation provider Zum. The electric fleet began operating earlier this fall, helping
provide cleaner transportation for students while reducing emissions in the community.
The upcoming offering will give investors the opportunity to directly support the school bus electrification project and further connect their investments with tangible green energy infrastructure in Connecticut. Pursuant to Public Act 26-63, Connecticut school districts must deploy 90% zero-emission school bus fleets by 2040. Branford Public Schools will be the first school district in Connecticut to meet this milestone. According to the Green Bank's investment webpage, investors will also have the option to share a portion or all of their interest earnings with a local partner organization.
“Green Liberty Notes have always connected investors with meaningful projects in their communities with strong demand from Connecticut residents and people across the country since 2021 interested in investing alongside us," said Bryan Garcia, President and CEO of the Connecticut Green Bank. "The upcoming Branford offering will provide a compelling example of how local investments in our green economy can help accelerate innovative solutions that benefit students, families, and the environment.”
